Hello and welcome! I’m Helen, the designer behind Cedar Quilt Co. You may know me from my garment sewing pattern company, Helen's Closet or my podcast, Love to Sew. I am relatively new to the wonderful world of quilting and I have to say, it has taken me by surprise! I have been so delighted to discover the joy of quilting over the past few years, and it has led me to try my hand a quilt pattern design. Enter: Cedar Quilt Co!
Cedar Quilt Co is a place for me to share my quilt designs and encourage other folks out there to give quilting a whirl! You may find, like I did, that it is immensely satisfying, rewarding, and fun. Once you learn the basics, you will be off to the races, sewing up beautiful blankets, home decor, and even garments! We even have a FREE beginner-friendly pattern that is complete with everything you need to know to get started quilting. Check out our Playful Placemats pattern below!
My quilt designs are modern with a touch of tradition. I gravitate towards bold, graphic colours but love a classic block-based quilt. You’ll find themes of nature in my designs, many of which are inspired by the landscape and plants here on Vancouver Island. I am also greatly inspired by fibre arts such as weaving, knitting, and appliqué.
Designing patterns and teaching others to sew is a huge passion of mine. I love creating well-designed instructions that are easy to follow. Making sure your sewing experience is as smooth as possible is my goal! I will be posting helpful tutorials here on the Cedar Quilt Co blog, as well as building up a library of quilting patterns in our pattern shop.
Quilting combines my love of sewing and my love of graphic design in a way I never realized was possible. I have fallen head over heals for quilt design and I am so excited to share these with you here at Cedar Quilt Co.
